Things to Consider When Buying a Sewing Machine–Part 1

Are you considering buying a sewing machine as a gift for someone or for yourself? Today, sewing machines come in so many different models and have so many features it can be difficult to know which to choose.

Before shopping for a machine you need to take some basic facts into consideration:

How much will the sewing machine be used? Will all of the features be used or just one or two? What type of sewing will be done? How much are you willing to spend for a machine? Will the machine be moved around?

If you will not be using the machine that much, a cheaper basic model may be just what you need. If you are going in for quilting or working with heavier fabrics, you will want a sturdier machine than if you just do occasional sewing.

Riverford Field Kitchen

We had lunch at the Riverford field kitchen on New Year’s Day. I basically ate a plate of vegetables in different forms, Carrots with feta cheese, Cauliflower with almonds, Beetroot and herbs etc. But it felt like a gourmet dish. I was so impressed that I simply had to buy the book to find out how to make those.

I was very impressed with the honesty in the first few chapters. From a test farm for chemical company ICI to the successful vegetable box scheme it is now is a great achievement in one generation.

ShopRite canned goods sale linked to Facebook food drive to help the hungry in New Jersey

ShopRite’s popular Can Can sales provide a good opportunity to stock up on canned foods and save some bucks when the budget is tight. But the sale that runs Jan. 5 through Jan 21 also will present an opportunity to help the hungry in New Jersey.

The grocery chain’s Cans for Fans food drive on Facebook aims to donate up to 50,000 cans of food while increasing the number of fans who “like” ShopRite on its Facebook page.

ShopRite will donate one can of food to food banks in the areas it serves for every fan on its official Facebook page at .
