i’ve never been the type of girl for whom diamonds are the be all and end all. i’ve always preferred a nice piece of vintage jewelry (no diamonds required) or, in this case, i’d prefer my diamonds in lighting form. swedish designer eric therner has created these beautiful enviromentally friendly, e-27 halogen light bulbs that are shaped like diamonds. i can only imagine how impressive these would look grouped together as an impromptu chandelier. if you’re in the market for something special, perhaps consider these pretty “diamonds” for your big day’s decoration instead. click here for more info and to buy online ($37 each). thanks, eric!

and since we’re on the topic of my favorite things, why not bring up my love all all things cake-related? if i could eat one dessert for the rest of my life it would easily be birthday cake. classic yellow cake with chocolate icing makes me a very happy girl. so when i saw these beautiful paintings and her husband, oil painter paul ferney. paul asked jordan what she would paint if she could and she said “cakes!”. with jordan as art director, paul painted the cakes and stands jordan picked and now they’re having a collaborative show at ferney art studios (766 valencia street, san francisco) starting september 3rd at 6-8pm (cake will be served!). these lovely pieces will be for sale online starting september 6th, but until then i’ll keep drooling over them. they’re like a modern, more textured version of my favorites by wayne thiebaud. ah, cake and art. what’s not to love? thanks, jordan!
